I purchased this dress from a vintage clothing shop in the 1980s. The design later appeared in the movie A Beautiful Mind. It is not a reproduction but is vintage clothing.
The dress has been used as a costume on multiple occasions and is not in pristine condition. Shoulder straps were added at some point. The boning is original, I think, but no longer doing it's job. The zipper is not in working condition. There are multiple small holes in the fabric from safety pins and there are discolored spots in some places.
With cleaning and some repair, I think this dress will continue to make a great costume or set dressing. It's possible it can be rehabbed for special occasion wear as well.
Dress is on Plus size Dress Form. I believe the dress to be a modern size 16 based on these approximate measurements:
